Military moves in Syria should not damage Astana talks: Commander
TEHRAN(Basirat): The Military measures in Syria should not damage the Astana peace talks, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said.
Baqeri made the remarks Sunday in a phone conversation with Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Hulusi Akar.

He also underlined maintaining territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Syria.

These measures should not pave the way for the enemies, especially the US and its allies, to achieve their goals.

Avoiding any imminent damage to Syrian people in operation zones is also of importance, he added.

Meanwhile, Akar pointed to confronting terrorist groups in Afrin, northwestern Syria as main reason behind Turkish forces attack on this region.

Turkey respects territorial integrity of Syria and will comply with its commitments under trilateral talks between Iran, Turkey and Russia, he said.

Turkish Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces announced on Saturday that the operation in Afrin was performed against the Syrian National Democratic Alliance and Syrian Democratic People's Party.
