Tehran(Basirat)-Pilgrims who are travelling to the Iraqi holy city of Karbala to take part in Arba’een rituals are offered with healthcare services provided with Iran’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Pilgrims who are travelling to the Iraqi holy city of Karbala to take part in Arba’een rituals are offered with healthcare services provided with Iran’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Some 235 ambulances, 16 medical ambulance buses, 11 motorlances, and 4 helicopters are dispatched to the westerns borders of Mehran, Chazzabeh, Shalamcheh and the roads leading to Karbala, the EMS head Pir-Hossein Kulivand said.

Additionally, seven field hospitals are set up along the roads, Kulivand added.

Millions of pilgrims gather in Karbala to mark Arba’een annually for some years now. Arba’een commemorates the end of the 40-day mourning period after the killing of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in the battle of Karbala.
