 Military drill of western countries in the Persian Gulf provides a chance for us to find out their weak and strong points. Certainly foreign countries will experience defeat if they intend to make a mistake and the military drills can be considered as an opportunity for all forces of Islamic Republic to recognize the enemy well before encountering with them , get to know them ,and find out their strong and weak points correctly.
America, Britain, and France, under the command of British forces, prepare themselves to run a military drill in the Persian Gulf and they claim that the operation against Iran and they claimed that they want to simulate these situation as real. These countries explain their naval military drill as "Unified Trident” and it is supposed to use ships, equipment, and military forces of three countries during the process of running the military drill. During the presidency of Trump this is the first military drill which American forces have taken part in it. Military high-ranking officials of Islamic Republic of Iran have warned firmly against the military drill and declared that no one has the right to enter the Iranian territorial waters.
What are the real purposes of the military drill? Will military threats against Iran increase ? Basirat Center for Political Studies has interviewed with general yadollah javani (Advisor to the Supreme Leader's Representative at the IRGC) and he will answer these questions.
Q: What are the purpose of the military drill that France, Britain, and America intend to run it in the Persian Gulf recently? Of course it has been stated that protecting international trade in the Persian Gulf in recent speeches of the military high-ranking officials of presented countries in the military drill, what is your evaluation on this matter?
IRGC official yadollah javani: these countries (three countries) set a strategic purpose and claiming they intend to secure the rigion in this way and protect the international trade while this is not the reality. As we have no disruptive factor to the security of the region. Substantially some countries in the region support these three countries and Iran is the only country which does not support them. In this issue protecting the stability and security of the region is the main policy of Islamic Republic of Iran. Since security in the region provides benefits of countries, in particular Iran, were never intend to unsettle security in the region. Therefore stability and security of the region and securing the international trade are of benefits to Islamic republic of Iran too. The continuation of their attending in the region have faced with risk and this is the reason why they have come to run a common military drill. Each of three countries,America,Britain, and France, each country in a different historical period of time , had a dominant influence on the region, in recent years the American had the most influence and before them the British and in some periods of time The French had it . During about last 500years there were extra-regional powers who had influence in the Persian Gulf region. Through this influence they established puppet and independent states in the region. In this way they could gain their benefits but they violated benefits of other countries in the region.
Along with establishment of Islamic revolution of Iran, its turning into a powerful country, the matter of Islamic awakening and resistance in the region, foreign countries found themselves at risk, the risk is that the time of their attending in the region is coming to an end. So such military drills in the Persian Gulf are for the purpose of stablizing the situation of America, France, and British not securing the region. Any disruptive factor to security of the region is because of their attending and interfering in the region. What they say as the slogan of the this military drills is not real and it is a kind of psychological operation, as a matter of fact they follow some interventionist and aggressive purposes.
Q: After Trump’s coming to power and his recent speeches, can we say that in some way these speeches and also running the military drill lead to increase of more tension in the region?
IRGC official yadollah javani: According to the media, presented countries in the military drill say that they intend to simulate an operation against threats of Islamic Republic of Iran, in particular Islamic Republic of Iran Navy and this matter means disrupting the security in the region. In fact what they say as the slogan and purpose of the military drill, it is entirely opposite, and they introduce the matter in the way that it leads to tension and lack of stability.
If their military drill want to gain this hidden purpose that is stated partly in the media, it provides a chance for Iran to find out their weak points. It means that if America, Britain, and France intend to simulate some tactics in the region together or base on their own word they intend to confront with potential danger of Iran through this way, they should know their attending, military drill, and activities are in the benefits of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Of course Iran and our military forces have complete information on foriegn countries in the region but the military drill provides another chance to find out their weak points correctly by more information and it would be helpful when they exceed their authority, if they want to enter territorial water of Iran and harm the benefit Islamic republic of Iran, our military forces will use their tactics against themselves.
Islamic Republic approach is stability factor of the region but foreign countries want to interfere and disrupt the security of the region. They should know such behaviors are considered as an opportunity to Iran. Most of foriegn countries in the region try to regain their lost dominance. If we refer to the approach of the past, they will find out that running the military drill was wrong. If presented countries in the military drill observe the history, they will find out that running the military drill is wrong. At one time through attending in Afghanistan, occupying Iraq, and deploying around Iran, the American assumed that they are able to straighten the circle siege of Iran and have military arrangements around of Iran, they immediately found out that they had put themselves under our surveillance and in our rifle range after their attendance in Persian gulf and they had increased their vulnerabilities. As today Iran is very powerful in different issues such as missile, navy, holding warships in both Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, and fighting asymmetrically. Our Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Forces is one of the supreme sectins of Iran as well.
