Hezbollah’s nature, emergence and objectives

The resistance movements enjoy a religious identity with an inclination toward Islamic strength while the Saudis enjoy a tribal identity (with no religious or democratic tendency).By Dr. Ali Hassan HeidariLebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement came into existence after Israel occupied Lebanon in 1982.
Naturally, the religious identity and logic of Hezbollah’s Shia leaders are the main causes of the movement’s success and victory both in Lebanon’s political scene and its battle against the armed-to-teeth army of the Zionist Israeli regime.
Hezbollah rapidly turned into an idealistic Arab-Shia liberator movement despite the fact that it came up only after the Israeli occupation and that it is just a recent political event compared to other Arab currents in the region. Hezbollah managed to make major advances in various areas and let the fake regime of Tel Aviv experience the bitter taste of defeat for the first time.
In the early days of Hezbollah, the fight against the aggressor regime of Israel, liberation of the occupied Lebanese territories, and serving people were put on the agenda of the movement.
The function of this cross-religious movement has always been relying on four principles which represent its anti-invasion, anti-terrorist and anti-colonialist nature while supporting Sunni-Islamic Palestine resistance. These fundamental principles are as follows:
1. Hezbollah considers armed resistance against Israel as a basic and ideological principle of the Islamic world. In this process, Hezbollah officials have proved that their sworn enemy is Israel, not Sunnis, Christians, and Jews.
2. Having trust and belief in religious democracy and people's power and vote as a mechanism for power transition in Lebanon and the Muslim world especially in Syria and Palestine.
3. Preserving Islamic and national unity by relying on non-partisanship and also the fact that Shias and Sunnis are Islam’s assets. Besides, the national identity of Lebanon is a combination of various national and religious identities, including Islam, Christianity and other religious minorities.
4. Defending Islamic ideals and safeguarding Muslims’ rights especially Palestinian people and protecting them seriously.
5. Ethicality and endeavoring to revive Islamic identity.
During the 33-day war in the summer of 2006, Hezbollah put an end to the Arab world leaders' delusion that Israel is invincible. Therefore, the movement, by disrupting military equations of the world and breaking Israel’s so-called chain of victories, not only did help the Lebanese and the Islamic world regain their internal unity and self-confidence, but also made Europe and the United States doubtful about Israel’s invincibility myth.
Hence Saudi leaders’ stances on Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement in recent months have their origins in the fact that the Saudi political system, being led by the US, has an inborn and identity difference with resistance movements (such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah).
The resistance movements enjoy a religious identity with an inclination toward Islamic strength while the Saudis enjoy a tribal identity (with no religious or democratic tendency). They are US-led Western blocks which neither carry any democratic indices nor any political independence. Even the dignity of the Islamic world doesn't seem to be of any importance for them. So there has always been an outstanding chaos with respect to the Arab country's approach and behavior during the history of House of Saud. Regarding their identity decline, although the Saudis pretend to be opposed to the fake regime of Israel, but practically they have forged relations with this entity and have been supporting the Zionists financially and spiritually within certain US guidelines. As a result, Saudi leaders tend to achieve these goals by labeling Hezbollah as a terrorist movement to achieve the following goals in line with the interests of Israel:
1. To drive Hezbollah out of Syria and force it to get involved in an internal conflict similar to Lebanon’s unrest back in the 1980s.
2. Riyadh has changed its strategy in Lebanon from a proxy war to a direct war, relying on the country’s political currents. Therefore, they are attempting to interfere in Lebanon’s internal disputes, a move similar to what they did in Yemen.
3. Defeat of the resistance army which is a common scenario whereby the anti-resistance movement is trying to separate volunteer Hashd al-Shaabi units from the Iraqi army, Hezbollah from the Lebanese army and the National Progressive Front from the Syrian army.
4. Pushing Lebanon into instability and paving the way for the Zionist regime to fulfil its lifelong ambition of returning to Beirut to isolate Hezbollah, disarm it and finally force it to surrender.
