TEHRAN (Basirat):A bomb exploded by the MKO (MEK) at the shrine of Imam Reza, the eighth Imam of Shia, on 20 June 1994 at 14:26 in a crowded prayer hall. To maximize the amount of the casualties, the explosion was conducted on Ashura, one of the holiest days for Shia Muslims, when hundreds of pilgrims gather to commemorate the martyrdom of their third Imam, Hossein ibn Ali (AS). The attack left at least 26 dead and 300 injured. The blast power was equivalent to 10 pounds of TNT.
