Japan, South Korea and China are likely to hold a tripartite summit between late November and early December, local media reported Wedensday.
In August, the foreign ministers of three countries a agreed to
hold he summit before the end of the year. The event will be host by
Japan, for the first time in five years.
According to Kyodo news agency, citing Japanese government sources.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and South Korean President Park Geun Hye
planned to take part in the meeting, along with Japanese Prime Minister
Shinzo Abe. The summit is likely to be held in Tokyo, the sources said.
According to media reports, the agenda of the summit would include
North Korea's nuclear and missile development, as well as
counter-terrorism measures, among other issues.
In November, the first in three years high-level tripartite summit was
held in Seoul, which was a breakthrough as Japan’s relations with South
Korea, which was under Tokyo’s colonial rule between 1910 and 1945, have
been icy over territorial disputes and controversies in interpretations
of wartime history.
