TEHRAN (Basirat)- Iran is going to continue support for Syria in its fight against terrorism to ensure regional security, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday.

Iran is going to continue support for Syria in its fight against terrorism to ensure regional security, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday. The president said that the aid for Syria was based on the Iranian
belief that terrorism posed a major threat to the region and the entire
world.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will keep assisting Syria in the fight
against terrorism and in the establishment of security in the region,”
Rouhani said at a meeting with Speaker of the People’s Council of Syria
Hadiya Khalaf Abbas in Tehran, as quoted by the Tasnim news agency.
He pointed out that retaining territorial integrity of neighboring
states was a priority of the Iranian policy adding that nobody would
profit from changing borders.
Rouhani also said that Iran would focus on delivering humanitarian aid
to Syrian people.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces
loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting a number of opposition factions
and extremist groups, such as Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al Sham (also
known as Nusra Front, or Jabhat al-Nusra), both of which are banned in
Russia and a range of other countries.
