officers on US election day in the biggest public security election day
operation ever, New York Police Department (NYPD) chief Carlos Gomez
said.
"In preparation for tomorrow's presidential election, the NYPD has
developed a very comprehensive security plan. Well over 5,000 uniformed
officers will be assigned to election duty, various times of election
duty throughout the day," Gomez said on Monday, broadcast by the ABC
News channel. The operation involves more than double the number of officers than
the previous election day operation, he added, urging New York
residents to alert police authorities via the terror hotline in case of
any suspicious activity.
Other police officials reportedly dismissed threats by the Islamic State
(IS), a terrorist organization outlawed in both the United States and
Russia, to carry out attacks on US soil.

two months after the New York and New Jersey bombings which injured
dozens of people. Ahmad Rahami, an immigrant from Afghanistan, has been
accused of plotting the attacks.
