US President-elect Donald Trump will meet on Saturday Mitt Romney, the Republican Party’s 2012 presidential nominee, whom he is reportedly considering for the post of the US secretary of state.

According to the NBC News broadcaster, Trump and Romney will discuss the possible diplomatic appointment. Meanwhile, the CBS News channel reported that the purpose of the meeting is "to "seek counsel."

During Trump’s election campaign, Romney referred to him as "a phony, a fraud."

"His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University," Romney said in March, as quoted by CBS News.

On November 8, Trump managed to come ahead of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the US presidential elections, securing 290 electoral votes.

On Friday, Trump announced his intention to nominate US Senator Jeff Sessions to serve as Attorney General and US Rep. Mike Pompeo as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn has been selected to be the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, according to his transition team.
