TEHRAN (Basirat)- The UK public office-holders may be made to swear an oath of allegiance to British values to facilitate their acceptance across the society, according to Communities Secretary Sajid Javid.

The UK public office-holders may be made to swear an oath of
allegiance to British values to facilitate their acceptance across the
society, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid said Sunday.
"If we are going to challenge such attitudes, civic and political
leaders have to lead by example. We can't expect new arrivals to embrace
British values if those of us who are already here don't do so
ourselves, and such an oath would go a long way to making that happen,"
Javid told The Sunday Times newspaper.
The oath is expected to cover every elected official, civil servant and council worker.
The proposal came as a response to the report by Louise Casey, who was
tasked by former prime minister David Cameron to evaluate the state of
social integration in the country, and found out that there had not been
enough focus on integration of migrants.
