"Saudi Arabia, as the representative of Wahhabi thoughts, is promoting violence inside and outside its borders and supporting terrorists financially and intellectually," Amoli Larijani said, addressing a weekly meeting of high-ranking judiciary officials in Tehran on Monday.

He also lambasted Riyadh for its secret relations with Tel Aviv.

Amoli Larijani referred to the US bid to sell $100bln worth of weapons and military tools to Saudi Arabia, and said this project is aimed at exerting more pressures on Shiites and the West's further control over the Islamic world.

In relevant remarks last May, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan lashed out at the Riyadh government for supporting the terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq.

"Some countries led by Saudi Arabia and its corrupt system are directing terrorist currents in the region to meet the demands of the US and Israel," General Dehqan said, addressing a conference in Tehran.

He pointed to the Saudi regime's support for the terrorist groups in Syria, and warned, "Daesh (the ISIL) and the Al-Nusra Front as well as other terrorist groups are trying to portray a tainted image of Islam."
