(FNA) reports:
"A massive wave of Hezbollah and Iraqi popular forces have arrived in the town of al-Hadher in order to begin the third phase of large-scale operation in Aleppo province's Southern territories," the sources said.
"The main objective for these reinforcements will be the capture of the Aleppo-Idlib axis that has been under the control of the militant groups well over two and a half years," the sources added.
The Syrian army and their allies from Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba, and the National Defense Forces (NDF) completed the second phase of their Southern Aleppo operation after they captured the strategic town of Khan Touman and the village of al-Khalidiyah; this resulted in the obstruction of the terrorists' main supply line from Idlib to Aleppo.
The Syrian army and its allies, backed up by the Russian fighter jets, have been carrying out very successful operations in various parts of Aleppo province in the recent weeks.
Earlier reports said that the Syrian army and the NDF inflicted heavy losses on the militant groups in Northeast, West, Southwest and Northwest of Aleppo province.
"A long convoy of the ISIL military vehicles was targeted by the Syrian forces near al-Bab city, 38 km Northeast of Aleppo city, and in the surroundings of al-Nairab Airport, 10 km East of the city," the sources said.
"Concentration centers of al-Nusra Front near Orum al-Kubra and al-Zirbeh villages in Western and Southwestern Aleppo were also targeted by the Syrian government forces, which left many militants dead or wounded," the sources added.
"The Syrian forces stormed the gathering centers of terrorist groups in Hraytan, which claimed the lives of many militants and destroyed their military hardware," they went on to say.
The Syrian army, National Defense Forces and Hezbollah fighters, backed up by Russian air force, accomplished phase two of their military operations in the Northern parts of the country after achieving all the specified objectives in various parts of Aleppo province on Tuesday.
The Syrian forces captured the strategic towns of Khan Touman, Al-Khalidiya and Al-Qarassi as well as cutting off the Aleppo-Damascus Highway at the end of this phase.
According to military sources, the Syrian army and its allies have so far won back over 75% of the Southern part of Aleppo.
Sources also said the Syrian forces will now shift their attention to Idlib in order to begin phase 3 of this massive assault.
After the recapture of the Aleppo-Idlib Highway, the primary objective of phase 3 will be the capture of the ICARDA Farms, they said.(FNA)reported.
