22 Bahman Rally: Beyond a celebration for victory

The political regime in Iran is a kind of regime that can be called a "religious democracy”. A regime formed on the basis of people`s place and credit, consolidated and persisted by means of their presence and participation.
In democratic regimes the people`s role is reflected and indicated by their political participation in the battleground of elections. Also in Islamic Republic of Iran, each and every authority, from the supreme leader to the authorities of the Executive and the Legislature, are elected via the people`s vote. For example, in the 26 February of 2016 elections to which there are less than a weeks remaining, the people of Iran will participate in the election of their representatives for both Islamic Consultative Assembly and Assembly of Experts – which is in charge of electing and supervising the Supreme Leader. Long chains of people formed in the later rounds of Islamic Consultative Assembly elections promise a more than 60 percent participation also in this round of election, which is a high value compared to other democratic countries.
In the Islamic Republic the participation of people in the political field is not only limited to various elections but takes form in other activities, which is one of the unique characteristics of the Islamic Republic in comparison to other conventional democracies in the West. The people of Iran celebrate some of their national days, most important of them being the Islamic Revolution Victory anniversary, by participating in glorious gatherings and rallies with tens of millions present. At this day, the nation comes to the streets in tens of millions all over the country, repeating the revolution slogans once again in a pervasive rally. More than three generations have passed since the generation of the Islamic Revolution`s creators, and today those who participate in the glorious rally of 22 Bahman have mostly never seen the days of the Islamic Revolution Victory and were born thereafter. This demonstrates that the Islamic Republic regime has been able to successfully transfer its identity and ideas to the next generation, thus today the management of 22 Bahman rally is entrusted to the third generation of the Islamic Revolution.
The nation`s glorious participation in the 22 Bahman rally also had other different messages, of which the nation`s support for the political regime and the efforts of the government. The nation`s expectations from the political regime is also stated in this rally and it can be demonstrated by studying the slogans, manuscripts and placards.

The people of Iran are an aware nation which possesses high political information with respect to the developments of the region as well as the world, and in this aspect a few nations are comparable. It is by this supply that at the general rally of 22 Bahman, some of slogans and manuscripts are dedicated to the region`s developments. It is for this reason that this day belongs to all Iranians regardless of any dependence on age, gender, party, group, belief, cult an etc, and is an illustrative panel for the world to be acquainted with the Islamic-Iranian identity of a nation.
