Political Analyst Dr. Yadollah Javani has weighed in on the strategic importance of
the region where Iran is located. The full text of the analytical piece follows.
Iran is located in the most strategic region in the world, i.e. West Asia, and
enjoys an extremely significant status. It is a geographical region with
historical, cultural, economic and security commonalities, and changes in any
part of it influences other areas. West Asia links three key continents: Asia,
Europe and Africa.
Important waterways in the world, including the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman,
the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, are located in this
region. Also, strategic straits such as Hormuz, Gibraltar, Bosporus, Dardanelles
and Bab-el-Mandeb lie in this region, which has made global economic
transactions dependent on those straits. There are 14 strategic spots in the
world seven of which are located in West Asia. From a religious standpoint,
Muslims make up 93% of the region’s population. Economically speaking, the
region is home to the world’s major oil and natural gas resources, and that is
why countries, especially Europeans’ dependence on this region increases day by
day as far as energy supplies are concerned.
Due to all the above-said reasons, the Americans have an eye on this region.
They regard domination over West Asia as a sine quo non for securing domination
over the whole world and maintaining their position as a super power. During
history, colonial powers have looked at this region through the same prism and
sought to secure their domination over the region. Therefore, this region in
Asia has been the scene of serious rivalries between major world powers over the
past five centuries, especially in the past 100 years. With the triumph of
Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979 and establishment of the Islamic Republic of
Iran in that region, a major historical change took place. After several hundred
years and with the emergence of the Islamic Revolution, a regional,
domestically-developed and very strong power called the Resistance Front led by
Iran has taken shape in this strategic region against the infiltration and
domination of foreign powers.
Now, West Asia is stage where two different powers are facing off. The outcome
of this standoff will determine the future world order and the direction in
which history will move in the third millennium. Supported by their European,
Zionist and Arab allies, including dynasties such as the Al Saud regime, the
Americans seek to retain their lost domination in this region. Iran, with the
help of the regional nations and the Resistance Front, tries to put an end to
the infiltration of foreigners in the region, bring about unity among Muslims,
lay the foundation for a new Islamic civilization and make the Muslim world
regain its real status in the international system. Whatever has happened in the
region between Iran and the US over the past 40 years has been over such a
future. Now the question is, "What will the region’s future be like? How will
the destiny of this strategic war play out? Which side and power will emerge
victorious in the region?
In response, one can say clearly and firmly that awakened Muslim nations are the
winners of this strategic and historical combat. With the Islamic Revolution,
nations were awakened, and with the Islamic awakening, now a powerful resistance
front has been formed in the region to stand up to the infiltration of
foreigners as well as their cronies and corrupt puppet governments. The past
forty years have witnessed victories in wars involving the US and its allies.
Fighting against terrorist groups such as the ISIS was one of the most complex
and most dangerous theatres of war in Iraq and Syria over the past seven years.
The outcome of those conflicts can be summed up in a statement made by Trump,
who has acknowledged that his country has spent $7trilloin on Middle East wars
over the past 17 years, but to no avail. Now, Iran’s strategic influence in the
hearts of the regional nations coupled with Iran’s presence in Iraq, Syria,
Lebanon, etc. has turned into a horrific nightmare for the US, Zionist regime,
some European governments and reactionary Arab governments in the region. At
this point in time, the US-led hegemonic powers’ main concern is Iran’s
influence and presence in the region.
They have realized well that the stabilization of Iran’s influence and presence
in the region will result in major changes both in the region and across the
world. Accordingly, the Americans have formed an anti-Iran front to sound the
death knell to Iran’s regional and influence via exerting different kinds of
pressure. Will they succeed? Will the Americans mange to impose their will on
the Iranian nation through missile and regional JCPOSs, whose strategic
objective is to harness Iran’s defense power and end Iran’s regional influence.
Will they manage to bring the region under their domination once again, and, in
addition to revive their domination, reinforce the shaky pillars of the Israeli
regime, Saudi Arabia and other totalitarian governments?
There are numerous indications which suggest the US will suffer a heavy defeat
in the region. Accordingly, wise Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei weighed in on the destiny of this conflict and the future of
the region.
"The Americans must leave the West Asia region. It is the US which should leave
here, not the Islamic Republic.”
The Leader then added, "The Persian Gulf is our home. West Asia is our home.
Here is our home,” and added they pursue wicked goals and want to trigger
sedition.
