Commander of Iranian Anti-Narcotics Police General Massoud Zahedian announced
that the fugitive, who was the main culprit in the massacre of police forces in
the Gurnak village in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan 19
years ago, has been arrested.
The wanted man was nabbed two weeks ago, the commander said, adding that weapons
and ammunition were also confiscated during the operation.
He said the man, who has been involved in terrorist activities and smuggling of
illicit drugs, was arrested inside the country after a complicated intelligence
operation.
When arrested in 1999, the criminal had given wrong information to the police,
fabricating a story that he had hidden a haul of drugs in Gurnak village,
located near the city of Iranshahr.
36 police forces, including a general, were killed in an ambush set by the
scoundrel’s accomplices when several teams were deployed to the site.
The outlaws fled the country after the massacre.
