Leader Urges Firm Response to US Hostile Moves
TEHRAN (Basirat) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned against continued hostilities of the US government toward the Iranian nation and called on the country’s officials not to be passive in the face of Washington’s antagonistic moves.
In the face of enemies’ arrogant moves, the country should step up to the plate and shut their mouths with a firm response, Ayatollah Khamenei said Sunday in a meeting with Iran’s newly-elected lawmakers here in Tehran, Tasnim reported.
Because if the enemy feels that the opposite side is passive and likely to retreat, it will not step back but make more excessive demands, Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The Leader further pointed to the nuclear negotiations between Tehran and six world powers, saying that even after the July 2015 nuclear deal, the US administration and Congress as well as its presidential hopefuls are constantly threatening Iran and making excessive demands.
Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that the Iranian government should not remain silent in the face of such arrogant moves.
Elsewhere, the Leader pointed to enemy’s plots against regional countries and the importance of Western Asia to the US, saying that the presence of Islam and Muslims, huge oil resources, waterways and the Zionist regime of Israel make the region important to the enemy.
Their plot against the region is what they raised a few years ago as the formation of a "New Middle East” or "the Greater Middle East”, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
However, the US plots in regional countries, like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, were not materialized due to Iran’s resistance, the Leader added.
The term "New Middle East” was introduced to the world in June 2006 in Tel Aviv by then US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice in replacement of the older and more imposing term, the "Greater Middle East.”
This announcement was a confirmation of an Anglo-American-Israeli "military roadmap” in the Middle East. This project, which has been in the planning stages for several years, consists in creating an arc of instability, chaos, and violence extending from Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria to Iraq, the Persian Gulf, Iran, and the borders of NATO-garrisoned Afghanistan.
