In an interview with Tasnim, Brigadier General Hossein Nejat said the IRGC intelligence department has been actively engaged in tackling corruption and has achieved good results in this regard.
"One of the major tasks we care about is the fight against economic corruption,” the general said, adding that his forces work on two relevant legal cases every month on average and bring them to court.
He also highlighted the close cooperation and interaction between the IRGC intelligence department and the Intelligence Ministry, saying the two organizations coordinate efforts and work on various issues without any problem.
In a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members on July 15, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei urged a "genuine fight against corruption” and serious resolve to implement the Resistance Economy grand plan.
A month earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the Judiciary’s duty to decisively confront economic corruption or measures disrupting Iran’s economy.
Describing "outright and unequivocal” treatment of economic corruption as one of the Judiciary’s major duties, the Leader stressed that confronting economic corrupts must be decisive and effective.
