US Should Abandon Idea of One-Sided Dialogue with Iran: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Basirat): Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi rejected Washington’s recent threats against Tehran and its concurrent demands for dialogue, saying the US administration should forget about any “one-sided dialogue” with Iran under the shadow of threats.

US Should Abandon Idea of One-Sided Dialogue with Iran: Spokesman

"The brave, civilized, and history-making nation of Iran has always responded to threats with threats and respect with respect throughout its proud history,” Qassemi said on Wednesday.
He further recommended that the Trump administration forget "the idea of one-sided dialogue with honorable Iran under the shadow of threats”, and not repeat its failed and age-old experiences.
"The United States should be aware more than ever that the present-day world is not the era of domination, domineering and one-sidedness,” he stressed.
Two days after threatening Iran, US President Donald Trump tamped down his hawkish rhetoric and signaled he’s ready to make a "real deal” on Tehran’s nuclear program.
Trump on Sunday responded to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s comments that hostile behavior from the US would result in the "mother of all wars” by vowing in a tweet that "You will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered.”
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, also in a recent speech titled "Supporting Iranian Voices,” told members of the Iranian American community that the leadership in Tehran "resembles the Mafia more than a government.”
Elsewhere, he said the US is open to speaking with leaders there if Tehran changes its policies.
