'President Bashar al-Assad of Syria must not recklessly attack Idlib Province.
The Russians and Iranians would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take
part in this potential human tragedy,' Trump tweeted.
'Hundreds of thousands of people could be killed. Don't let that happen!' he
said in his twitter account.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his one day trip to Syria said
the remnants of terrorists including Tahrir al-Sham (Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist
organization must leave Idlib Province. Zarif's remarks were widely reflected by
various media throughout the world.
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said the Syrian
government has sovereignty right to wage the final war against terrorists and
cleanse all its territory of them and the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue
offering its advisory help to the Damascus government as long as its needs so.
Qasemi said the Syrian government in line with its previous victories over
terrorists is determined to put an end to this tragedy at this point and this
has worried certain pro-terrorism circles, promoting them to launch wide scale
propaganda campaign against Damascus.
In recent days, the US administration and American media have made a hue and cry
over the Syrian government's alleged plan to use chemical weapons against
terrorists in Idlib.
Last week, Syria has been the scene of a war of words between Russia and the US
with former claiming that the Western Troika (the US, France and Britain) were
preparing to stage a chemical attack in order to justify their possible
aggression against Syria.
On the other hand, the United States accuses Syria of trying to use chemical
weapons against its opposition forces in Idlib, warning that if this happens it
will give a grave response to Syria.
Russia has increased the number of its naval ships off the Syrian coasts in the
Mediterranean Sea and the US is reportedly transferring its military equipment
to areas near Syria.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned Western countries against
staging chemical attack on Idlib, terming such act as playing with fire.
The issue of Syria and situation in Idlib is among the topics of a tripartite
summit of Iran, Russia and Turkey to be held in Tehran Friday.
On Monday, Lavrov said the Tehran summit will focus on Syria and liberation of
Idlib Province from terrorists.
