Terrorists Attack Crowd of Bystanders in Military Parades in Southwestern Iran
TEHRAN (Basirat): Two terrorists opened fire at bystanders during the Armed Forces' annual parades in the Southwestern city of Ahwaz in Khouzestan province on Saturday.
Various units of the Islamic Republic Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC),
Law Enforcement Police and Basij (volunteer) forces started nationwide parades
in Tehran and other cities across the country on Saturday morning.
The parades mark the start of the Sacred Defense Week, commemorating Iranians'
sacrifices during the 8 years of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s.
The parades started in Ahvaz city on 8:30 local time and 30 minutes later, two
unidentified assailants fired bullets at the civilian crowd watching the
ceremony.
The two terrorists also intended to attack the military commanders and officials
on the podium but they were wounded by the security forces.
There is yet no report on the number of casualties.
