Speaking to IQNA, Sayyed Hassan Ali al-Imad, secretary general of the Mustaqbal
al-Idala movement of Yemen, said the heroic resistance of Yemen brought the
global arrogance and the Saudi-led coalition to their knees.
The recent talks of peace by the coalition’s supporters, including the US,
indicates the success of the Yemeni resistance, he added.
Imad said the US has provided the enemies of the people of Yemen with advanced
weapons but failed to break the resistance.
That is why they have had to retreat and talk about peace, he said.
The Yemeni activist further slammed the world silence on the ongoing tragedy in
his country, saying Yemen is in its worst humanitarian conditions.
He noted that the UN has described the crisis in Yemen as the worst humanitarian
tragedy and that according to UNICEF, thousands of children die every year in
the country as a result of diseases and malnutrition caused by the Saudi-led
aggression.
Last month, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis called for a ceasefire in Yemen
and for all parties to come to the negotiating table within the next 30 days.
His call for peace came after the coalition failed to reach its objectives in
Yemen despite of bombing the country for over three years.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and a number of its allies have been carrying out
deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to
restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally
of Riyadh.
Over 15,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their
lives in the deadly military campaign.
