Battlefield sources in Eastern Syria said on Sunday that a military convoy
comprising US-led military aids arrived in Hasaka province from Iraq through
Simalka passage.
The sources noted that the US military convoy comprised 100 large trucks
carrying aids and military equipment, and said that the convoy was destined to
SDF-controlled region.
Meantime, the Kurdish military sources reported that more than 300 trucks
carrying weapons, military hardware, missiles and armored vehicles arrived in
the SDF-controlled areas.
This is while the media sources had reported that the US and SDF had reached a
new agreement on the United States' continued support for the Kurdish forces.
In a relevant development on Monday, a Kurdish commander said that the US has
set up at least five observation posts alongside Turkey's border with Syria
despite strong opposition by Ankara.
The Arabic-language Sharq al-Awsat quoted an unnamed Kurdish military commander
as saying that the US forces started the operations to set up observation posts
in regions under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces along Syria-Turkey
border.
"The US forces have set up three observation posts in Tal Abyaz region in
Northern Raqqa and two others in Kobani in Northeastern Aleppo," the Kurdish
commander said.
He noted that the move by the US comes as Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar
had previously voiced displeasure over the US plan to set up observation posts
along borders with Syria, and said the US measure will make the situation more
complicated.
Last Wednesday, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the United States was
setting up the posts to help keep the focus on clearing the final Islamic State
militant strongholds in Syria.
The US currently has about 2,000 troops serving in Syria.
