Chief Negotiator: Houthis After Peace, Not Surrender

TEHRAN (Basirat) : Head of the Houthi Ansarullah movement’s delegation said they have attended the UN-sponsored talks in Sweden in the pursuit of peace in Yemen, not to surrender.

Chief Negotiator: Houthis After Peace, Not Surrender

In an interview with Al Mayadeen on Saturday, Mohammad Abdulsalam said the delegation representing the Houthi movement has taken part in the Sweden peace talks in order to reach an agreement on the basis of a single package.
He said the Sana’a delegation – representing the Houthi Ansarullah movement which controls the Yemeni capital- has traveled to Sweden for peace, not surrender.
Ansarullah favors a transition phase in order to carry out the results of national talks, Abdulsalam added.
He also underlined that military attacks against the port city of Hudaydah must end and the aggressors should retreat to their positions.
Abdulsalam said it is critical that the fate of the Houthi forces held captive in United Arab Emirates should become clear.
In separate comments, Abdul Malik al-Hajry, a member of Houthi delegation in the talks, said the negotiating parties have made advances on the issue of war prisoners and the opening of Sana’a airport.
Officials from the government of Yemen’s fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and representatives from the Houthi movement are engaged in talks with the UN in Sweden until December 14 to find ways to end the fighting that has killed thousands of people.
The Houthi delegation says the talks have been divided into five main sections, including discussions on a political framework and the opening of the airport in the capital of Sana’a for aid.
Some 8.4 million Yemenis are facing starvation as a result of the Saudi-led aggression, although the United Nations has warned that will probably rise to 14 million.
Three-quarters of impoverished Yemen’s population, or 22 million people, require aid.
