Iranian bank to open a branch in Mumbai

Tehran (ISNA) – “India’s government has issued a license for an Iranian bank to open a branch in Mumbai within three months in order to facilitate financial exchanges (between Iran and India),” Indian Transportation and Shipping Minister, Nitin Gadkari said, after meeting with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif

"In this stage, Chabahar can begin its full function,” he said.

Regarding the meeting with Iran’s foreign minister, Gadkari said, "We had a good meeting. Financial facilities are ready for Chabahar port project. There are also some problems but we will solve them”.

"Certainly, we will reach achievements as time goes by. Chabahar port is so important for us and we work seriously on the issue,” Indian Transportation and Shipping Minister said.

Meanwhile, after his meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Iran’s top diplomat told reporters, "We are very happy that India’s UCO Bank and Iran’s Pasargad Bank have begun cooperation in trade areas. We hope that the two countries have more cooperation towards their people’s interests”.

Answering a question about Indians’ demands for cheaper gas and commissioning industrial projects in Chabahar, Zarif said, "We are ready for talks with India regarding investment in Chabahar in areas such as petrochemical”.
