"At present, Iran's medical equipment is exported to 40 world states. Some
target countries have demanded Iran's products with 'Made in Iran' brand and
some of them have asked for launching production lines of the products in their
countries. Also, some goods are produced for a number of countries based on
their orders and the product is presented under a different brand," Secretary of
the Union of Iran's Exporters of Medical Equipment Reza Kompani said.
He added that the West European states, Germany and Italy are among the
countries which import Iran's medical equipment.
His remarks came as Iran recently unveiled a new drug named Rofanib to treat
patients who suffer rheumatoid arthritis.
"The drug can be applied for the patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis
and it stops the disease from the point it started," Head of Iran's Research
Center for Rheumatology Studies Ahmad Reza Jamshidi said on Saturday.
He added that formulization, production and analyzation of the drug have been
carried out by the specialized young Iranian scientists in 2 years.
Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in medical
and medicinal fields, in recent years.
In relevant remarks earlier today, Chairman of the Biotechnology Development
Council of Iran Mostafa Qaneyee announced that 17 countries of the world were at
present importing and using the biomedicine products of Iranian scientists.
"Iran enjoys good situation in this field and at present, the biomedicines
produced in the country are exported to 17 world states," Qaneyee said.
He added that production of biomedicine in Iran saved almost $1bln for the
country annually.
