Speaking at a daily press conference on Tuesday, Iran’s Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoosh Jahanpoor said COVID-19 has taken the lives of 98 patients during the past 24 hours, marking the lowest daily death toll since a month ago.

He also noted that the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus across Iran has risen to 74,877 following the detection of 1,574 new cases since yesterday.

While the total death toll from the infectious disease stands at 4,683, at least 48,129 positive cases in the country have fully recovered from coronavirus and have been discharged from the hospital, he said.

Among the patients undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 3,691 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Jahanpoor noted.

He added that 287,359 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

More than 1,934,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 120,000.
