"Nearly 30 tons of explosives had been transferred to the Southeastern borders of the country in the past 2 to 3 years which have been discovered by our border guards," Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces’ Quds Base Brigadier General Mohammad Marani said in an interview with the state TV on Friday night.

The Iranian General explained that in only one case, which is related to Jalil Qanbarzehi, who was actually like the father of terrorists in Southeastern Iran, he had transferred 2,700kg of explosives to the Iranian borders to attack the border checkpoints.

"I was surprised when this person entered the region but our forces could kill him and members of his group and destroy all their possibilities," General Marani said.

In a relevant development in July, Iranian security forces discovered and seized a cargo of explosive devices and weapons at the bordering areas in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, a provincial official said.

"11 booby-traps, 13 Kalashnikov guns, a number of grenades, an RPG and a number of RPG bullets were discovered at the bordering areas of Saravan in two phases of operations," Sistan and Balouchestan capital city's Prosecutor Ali Movahedirad told FNA.

He added that the cargo was seized after several months of intelligence work and efforts by the border guards.

Also, in the same province late in June, the IRGC Ground Force engaged in clashes with a terrorist team in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, killing and wounding several terrorists.

The IRGC Ground Force's Quds base announced in a statement that a terrorist team affiliated to Takfiri groups planned to cross the Iranian borders at Tahlab region of Mirjaveh in Sistan and Balouchestan province to conduct terrorist and sabotage acts inside Iran, but failed and was forced to flee after sustaining several casualties.

"Three terrorists were killed, a number of others were wounded and the remnants were forced to flee to regions in Pakistan during the clashes and exchange of fire between the IRGC Ground Force's Quds base troops and the terrorists," it added.

The statement also said that two of the local Basiji (voluntary) forces and one of the Quds base forces were martyred during clashes with the terrorists.

The statement reiterated the Iranian security forces' high preparedness to firmly confront any move by the enemies and terrorist groups.
