Brigadier General Hossein Salami made the remarks on the sidelines of the
Persian Gulf National Day which was held at Supreme National Defense University
in Tehran this morning.
Referring to the new US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's visit to Saudi Arabia
and the West Asia region, Brigadier General Salami said "the strategy that the
United State is pursuing in the West Asia and the Persian Gulf region is
creating a security dilemma and balance of power.”
He explained that the Unites States seeks to continue its domination over the
Arab states which requires constant presence in the Persian Gulf states and West
Asia region, adding that in that "security dilemma,” Iran is considered a threat
and a sponsor of terrorism, while the world knows that Iran is at the forefront
of the fight against terrorism.
In another part of his remarks. Salami pointed to the issue of Iran’s missiles,
saying that the missiles form the main part of Iran’s deterrent power, stressing
that Iran will never accept to give up its deterrent capabilities.
