New Impetus to Weaponization of Anti-Iran Bigotry

TEHRAN (Basirat): Behind the American fronds of fakery, the great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

New Impetus to Weaponization of Anti-Iran Bigotry

Washington is in no position to discredit Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as a "foreign terrorist organization." It’s a move that is expected to further complicate the Middle East situation.

Washington’s persistent myths, lies, and in many respects political charade and pressure, will fail to undermine the international credibility and legitimacy of the IRGC, a force that sacrificed a lot to help Iraq and Syria defeat the terrorist groups of ISIL and AL-Qaeda in the Levant when the whole world looked the other way and laughed.

For years, the world has heard a steady drumbeat of anti-Iran bigotry and war in the region and in the West, where political candidates and politicians like Donald Trump, George Bush, and Barack Obama have all spoken in one language: the pro-Zionist language of bigotry and anti-Iran.

They appeal to the anti-Iran policy of threats and sanctions. They give to this bigotry and Iranophobia no sanction, to sanctions and economic crimes no assistance. We have heard them say Iran is a threat to regional peace and security, i.e., the security of Israel. We have been told that Iranians are all terrorists and sanctions should never be lifted. We have been told that Iranians should not be allowed to have a normal life like the rest of the world. We have even been told that Shiite Muslims are not Muslim at all.

Most of these terrible ideas have arisen from pro-Zionist political candidates in Washington and their regime-change wars in Muslim heartlands. These are Americans - and their allies - who have conveniently and purposely ignored International Law and International Humanitarian Law.

They have also funded and armed terrorist groups in the Middle East and vigilante movements in the United States and Europe to hunt down Muslims and refugees, physically abusing, hurting and robbing them, and expelling them.

Everywhere in the West such right-wing private militias and vigilantes have grown. It’s an uncontrolled and dangerous phenomenon. As a consequence, xenophobia, Iranophobia, and Islamophobia expressed through violence against Muslims, migrants and refugees is on the rise. It has turned Western racism up to a full boil.

This includes the lethal impact of America’s sanctions regime against Iran and its anti-refugee policies on the thousands of refugees and migrants who have died trying to circumvent Europe's and America’s strict immigration policies. Their only sin was that they were fleeing the West’s natural resource exploitation and military intervention in the Middle East and North Africa that has caused the current refugee tsunami.

And guess what, the regime changers have no solution to these man-made humanitarian crises. Their military conflagrations for fossil fuel hegemony have destroyed almost everything, and reconstruction is not on the agenda. They hate Iran’s guts because it is the only force that has continued to resist their resource wars.

Worse, they are doing everything they can to stop the Iranian forces that have been and still are genuinely at the forefront of the Real War on Terror in Iraq and Syria. They even designate these fine souls as “terrorists”.

The racist hordes and Iranophobes in Washington have effectively weaponized their anti-Iran bigotry. They all seek in varying degrees to recover a “glorious” Levant past, a terror-infested past that most certainly, in reality, did not serve global security and peace. And they do this by sanctioning Iran and its armed forces, terrorizing its flood-hit people through economic warfare and humanitarian relief bans, in between making the regional community nervous and feel terrible, and then emphasizing it's all because of Iran.

It’s a cautionary tale and the agenda is fairly obvious: Increased sanctions, increased state terrorism against Iranian military advisors in Iraq and Syria, and a thoroughgoing support for continued war against Islam and Muslims everywhere in the region.

The decision by Washington to designate the IRGC as a “"foreign terrorist organization," is the prelude to what can really be described as nothing other than pouring more fuel on the flames of regional insecurity and instability. The Trumspsters should hold their heads in shame, as history will judge them harshly. They will be responsible for the consequences, as well. Until then, they need to think of the results of a comparison between the IRGC's present levels of power and regional influence with what it was over a decade ago when they started their schemes against this popular force. Interesting, isn't it!
