Official: Iran 1st Cyber Power in Region
TEHRAN (Basirat): Head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali announced that the country ranks first in the region in cyber power, warning of certain regional states' anti-Iran cyber activities.
"We rank first in the region in cyber power and Iran has achieved considerable capabilities in easily repelling cyber threats and protect network security," General Jalali said in an interview with the state-TV on Tuesday night.
He also warned of enmities of certain Persian Gulf littoral states against Iran in the cyber space, and said, as an instance, the Saudi regime has bought the shares of a social media to implement its policies.
Media reports said earlier that Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the Saudi billionaire, has invested a large amount of money in Twitter.
According to the SEC filing, Prince Alwaleed held 30,100,000 shares of the company in 2015 while Kingdom Holding Company, his investment company of which he’s the chairman, held 4,850,000 shares.
He and his company originally invested $300 million in Twitter back in 2011 before it went public in 2013.
Also, according to Crowd Analyzer's State of Social Media 2018, Saudi Arabia is very active on Instagram, as it has the largest number of active users in the region. This also goes for Twitter and Snapchat.
