TEHRAN (Basirat):  Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization said acts of violence committed in the world today in the name of religions have nothing to do with divine faiths.
Acts of Violence in World Have Nothing to Do with Religions
Addressing an international conference in Moscow on Tuesday on the challenges that the Muslim world is facing today, Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman said some, including the US and Zionist regime of Israel, seek spread of violence in the world and at the same time claim to be advocates of democracy and freedom.
He underlined that these very regimes are behind Takfirism and extremism in the Muslim world today.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ebrahimi Torkaman stressed that Islam’s message is for entire humanity but extremism prevents this message from getting everyone in the world.
He underlined the need for serious action against violence and extremism in the world.
The theme of the International Scientific-Practical Conference was Islam, Muslim heritage and intercultural dialogue.
The conference was attended by delegates including religious leaders and scientists from around the world. Ebrahimi Torkaman and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, represented Iran at the conference.
The participants discussed different ways to use Islam and Muslim heritage to establish interfaith and intercultural dialogue amid certain western country’s efforts to sow discords among Islamic world.
According to the participants, one of the main challenges that Muslims face today is the fragmentation of the Muslim community which paves the way for emergence of violent groups with destructive ideas.
The International Scientific-Practical Conference was held to mark the 115 anniversary of Moscow cathedral Mosque and 160th birthday anniversary of the outstanding religious figure, Mufti Rizaetdin Fakhretdin, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Moscow Islamic Institute.
