Hezbollah at Forefront of Coronavirus Battle

TEHRAN(Basirat): Forces of the Hezbollah resistance movement are at the forefront of the efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak in Lebanon.

According to al-Manar TV, the movement’s forces have been involved in disinfecting cities and villages and distributing food and health supplies as people have been advised to stay home to prevent the spread of the disease.

Social leaders and city and town officials have welcomed Hezbollah’s initiatives and the movement’s efforts to defend the Lebanese nation, both against the Zionist attacks and in health and social fields.

Earlier this week, Hezbollah said it has mobilized 25,000 of its forces, including doctors and medics, to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

It has also been equipping the country’s hospitals as part of a plan to help confront COVID-19.

“Our role is to complement the government apparatus and not to stand in its place,” said Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s executive council.

Hezbollah is deploying 1,500 doctors, 3,000 nurses and paramedics and 20,000 more activists in its plan, he said. “Frontline Islamic Resistance medics are taking part in this plan”.

Hezbollah had dedicated a Beirut hospital it owns to treating coronavirus patients, rented four disused hospitals, prepared 32 medical centers across Lebanon and laid plans for three field hospitals if needed. It has also rented hotels to be used for quarantine, Safieddine said

Lebanon has so far recorded 412 coronavirus cases. Eight people have died from the respiratory disease.
